Are you Struggling with Learning How to Make a Scrapbook?

For the longest time possible, I have been struggling with this idea of how to create memories of my late grandmother whom I was so attached to by the time of her death. On the other hand my cousins had gone abroad and we could hardly meet for drives and walks in the park as we often did when they were in the country.  I decide to share these worries with one of our merry – go round members who introduced me to scrapbooking that would later shed off all my worries. You are now wondering how it could happen. Yes I was introduced to the aspect of learning how to make a scrapbook that I would use to preserve the memories of my grandmother and those of my cousins. To date I have not looked back and I am loving the art every moment.  At some point I felt like I was getting addicted to scrapbooking.

So what is scrapbooking? It is the simple art of reserving family and personal history as well as storing your pictorial memories of events and people using a scrapbook. A scrapbook on the other hand is the decorated photo album that preserves those stories behind the photos. It is more of journaling. These scrapbook albums come in so many shapes and sizes and choosing the right one for your project can be overwhelming at times.  However your preferences should guide you along into choosing one but the ones that are commonly used are 12 x 12, 9 x 9 and 6 x 6.

Learning how to make a scrapbook is an easy task so long as you have the right tools of trade. The essential tools and materials that you would require include albums and Memorabilia, cutters and adhesives, stickers, fasteners, pens and markers, templates and stencils. You will also probably require embellishments which could include beads, buttons, tags, fibers, braids and embodied cotton wool that will enhance the outer look of the scrapbook and give it more of a personal touch.

Below is a simple process on how to make a scrapbook.

Establish a theme for your scrapbook.

Identify and select a picture that will be the focal point of your first page. The picture you have chosen should help you determine the color scheme you want to use.

Make sure you cut the right size of the scrapbook depending on the size of the articles you are putting in it.

Once you have inserted the item/article, you can add wordings and decorations for beauty enhancement.

Word of caution is that do not over decorate your scrapbook or make it bulky because you will again need to insert it into a plastic sleeve.  Going overboard with embellishments is one of the mistakes scrapbookers will make more often and the page looks overdone.  Another common mistake is having too many shapes before you can even identify the design you want. The best thing is to first learn about scrapbooking before you can begin buying any supplies.
